Washing Machine Size Requirements for Finn

Our rugs are compatible with most standard washing machines, but just to be safe, here are a few guidelines:

You do need a rug pad
Here's why

Why You Need a Rug Pad

While we recommend a rug pad for all rugs, they’re especially important for flatweaves, whose slim profile requires extra padding.

A rug pad prevents unwanted bunching and sliding, adds a subtle lift, and gives your rug a more cushioned feel underfoot.

Our rug pads are made of recycled felt and natural rubber, whereas lesser rug pads’ thin, sticky web can damage your flooring.

Moisture and mildew resistant, a rug pad stops dirt and grime from settling in your rug’s fibers.

The right rug pad

A must-have for flatweaves and other lower-pile pieces, a rug pad is the secret ingredient to maintaining your rug’s appearance and longevity. Width-wise, you’ll want to trim your rug pad so it’s 1-2” shorter than your rug on all four sides. Height-wise, we offer two premium rug pad options, both made of cozy recycled felt and natural rubber.

Natural inconsistencies and slight variations in size are inherent in these unique, handwoven rugs

  • Weft is 100% semi-worsted wool
  • Warp is 94% New Zealand wool and 6% recycled polyester
    • You may find traces of dried hay, grass, or straw in your rug as grazing sheep often collect plant matter in their coats. Remove gently by hand or with tweezers.
    • Authentic wool fibers were used to weave this rug. Please note that when wool gets damp, it will smell like a wet sheep. This is the scent of lanolin, which acts as a waxy barrier against dirt and moisture.
  • Flatweave (3-4mm thick)
  • 2.5" hand-tied fringe. Fringe is not included in the overall dimensions above.
  • Color palette: teal, prussian blue, navy, warm vanilla beige, cantaloupe
  • Dimensions: 4' x 6' (122 cm x 183 cm)
  • Due to its handmade nature a 5% variance in size, color and texture is to be expected.

  • Vacuum on low power with a non-rotary (no spinning brush) vacuum or suction attachment only.
  • Every few months, you'll also want to flip your rug over and vacuum the back to get the grit out of the foundation of the rug. It also helps to rotate your rug once a year to ensure even wear over time.
  • Every 3-5 years, we recommend getting your rug professionally hand-washed. Please do not take it to get steam or dry cleaned-this will almost certainly damage the rug! Hand-washing requires the use of a pH-balanced shampoo, worked into the rug by hand with a soft-bristled brush, before being rinsed thoroughly. This process should be repeated a few times.
  • Due to the hand-crafted nature of our rugs, you can expect to see light shedding, matting, and signs of fiber and thread breakage over time. For high traffic areas, these effects may occur more quickly and easily.
  • Spot cleaning instructions:
    • Lightly dampen a paper towel or cloth with clean water
    • Gently blot the affected area with your damp towel or cloth to dilute the stain
    • If the stain persists, try using an unscented, citrus-free, clear soap to avoid bleaching the textile.
    • Repeat this process until the stain is removed

The Design

  • A minimalist, midcentury design with art deco elements
  • Artisanal and tribal, geometric designs feature angular edges and simple shapes-like diamonds, squares, lattices, and stylized animals
  • Stripes-a clean and timeless classic
  • Abrash adds visual depth and texture in its variation of color and tone

The Material

New Zealand wool is a premium wool beloved for its softness as well as its long fibers. Like all wools, it has a hydrophobic layer which repels dust and dirt, and lanolin which both provides its trademark luster and protects the fiber from breaking or shedding. It's woven onto a sturdy cotton warp for added durability.

The Maker

Our partner, located outside of Delhi, was founded in 1939 and today is one of the largest rug makers in India. Both Fair Trade and Goodweave certified, their unparalleled quality, expertise, and sense of artistry make them a popular choice for many higher-end brands around the world.
