Wool rug with loop pile detail
- 100% wool with cotton canvas backing
- You may find traces of dried hay, grass, or straw in your rug as grazing sheep often collect plant matter in their coats. Remove gently by hand or with tweezers.
- Authentic wool fibers were used to weave this rug. Please note that when wool gets damp, it will smell like a wet sheep. This is the scent of lanolin, which acts as a waxy barrier against dirt and moisture.
- Medium pile: approximately .39"" thick (10 mm)
- Color palette: taupe, bone beige, puce brown, cream
- Due to its handmade nature a 5% variance in size, color and texture is to be expected.
Care
+
- Vacuum on low power with a non-rotary (no spinning brush) vacuum or suction attachment only.
- Rotate your rug on occasion to ensure even wear over time.
- Due to the hand-crafted nature of our rugs, you can expect to see light shedding, matting, and signs of fiber and thread breakage over time. For high traffic areas, these effects may occur more quickly and easily.
- Spot cleaning instructions:
- Lightly dampen a paper towel or cloth with clean water
- Gently blot the affected area with your damp towel or cloth to dilute the stain
- If the stain persists, try using an unscented, citrus-free, clear soap to avoid bleaching the textile.
- Repeat this process until the stain is removed

The Collection
The Samy Collection was designed in collaboration with French-Moroccan artist Samy Snoussi, whose expressive, bold linework looks as good on canvas as on rugs. In this collection, everything begins with the line, Samy explains, which symbolizes movement and flow. He used an abstracted color palette drawn from the natural world: sunny yellow, leafy greens, and earthy shades of gray and taupe.
The Design
In this piece, a mix of high and low looped pile lifts slightly off the floor, adding varied texture for your eyes (and feet). We've space-dyed the wool for a subtle, brindled color variation, which is combined into a cozy hand-tufted construction. The Trance rug features a bisected field through which a line meanders from one side to another, framed and free.
The Material
Wool has a hydrophobic layer which repels dust and dirt, as well as lanolin, which provides its trademark luster and protects the fiber from breaking or shedding. To create this rug's dappled highs and lows, we space-dyed the fiber in small batches. This process achieves a watercolor effect, adding depth of color. The dye we use is low-impact, which means no heavy metals and less greywater. It's then hand-tufted onto a cotton canvas backing for stability.
The Maker
Our partner has been weaving for 50 years, inheriting the business from his father. Some of the weavers have been there for that long, too. Devoted equally to treating workers well and developing quality products, they're also Good Weave certified, which guarantees high quality and trustworthiness across the board.
The Designer
Our in-house, all-star design team collaborates across three different countries. Based in Los Angeles, Istanbul, and Mumbai, they put a lot of thought into each and every collection they design. Starting with the weave itself, they determine material and technique, then create moodboards to capture the look and feel before starting to design. When designs are finalized, they conduct an extensive sampling process, perfecting each style and color before it goes to production.
