More interesting than a single-color rug, less busy than a patterned rug, the Ombré Collection is a happy in-between. These soft and luxurious wool rugs are a nuanced, clever spin on most ombré pieces you see on the market. Their color gradient runs vertically as opposed to the standard horizontal (you can see this most clearly on the runners), making you look twice. Classic, but with a twist.
The DesignThese rugs feature a subtle, striking fade from pale to deeper hues. Blue Hour is named for twilight, beginning in a soft koala grey and transforming into pale shades of nearly lavender blue.
The MaterialCut-pile rugs with a soft, satisfying footfall and pleasing weight, the Ombré Collection is woven of wool from the Sarda sheep of the island of Sardinia, which is windswept and briny. Their wool is white, long, and warm, with a natural sheen. It's tough, too: sturdy, wiry, and waterproof. We mix this with Indian wool for softness, and it's hand-loomed onto a 100% cotton foundation for durability.
The MakerOur partner is a third-generation family-run weaving house in Bhadohi, India. They specialize in plush pile rugs, and their immense knowledge helped us improve construction for durability and less shedding. Their values are twofold: creating the highest-quality product and taking care of their team, supporting their weavers in whatever they need.
The DesignerOur in-house, all-star design team collaborates across three different countries. Based in Los Angeles, Istanbul, and Mumbai, they put a lot of thought into each and every collection they design. Starting with the weave itself, they determine material and technique, then create moodboards to capture the look and feel before starting to design. When designs are finalized, they work with the supplier on an extensive sampling process, perfecting each style and color before it goes to production.
- We recommend that you regularly vacuum your rug to remove dirt and grime. Depending on how heavily your rug is used, just once or twice a month is adequate. Too much vacuuming can wear down the knots and fibers more quickly. If you have a suction attachment on your vacuum cleaner, use that instead of a rotary vacuum.
- Every few months, you’ll also want to flip your rug over and vacuum the back to get the grit out of the foundation of the rug. It also helps to rotate your rug once a year to ensure even wear over time.
- Every 3-5 years, we recommend getting your rug professionally hand-washed. Please do not take it to get steam or dry cleaned—this will almost certainly damage the rug! Hand-washing requires the use of a pH-balanced shampoo, worked into the rug by hand with a soft-bristled brush, before being rinsed thoroughly. This process should be repeated a few times.
- In case of spills, use a paper towel or cloth to blot the liquid. Add some clean water sparingly to the spot to dilute the stain (or wet a paper towel or cloth) and blot. If the stain is persistent, try using a mild detergent. Repeat this process until the stain is removed.
