Arianna Danielson is a blogger, photographer, and designer whose eclectic design sensibilities come from a love of vintage pieces and decades past. We spoke with her about the inspiration behind her dramatic décor, how she keeps things fresh, and her advice for decorating beginners.
This monthly series features our Brand Ambassadors—creators who embody the Revival ethos and like to experiment with design as much as we do.
How would you describe your design aesthetic?
I like to jokingly describe it as “70s-drug-lord-meets-your-grandma” chic. I love designer furniture from the 70s and 80s, but I’m also drawn to vintage glam and luxe. Give me all the velvet and gold accents and drama!
Your décor is really eclectic. Where did you draw your inspiration from?
A lot of my inspiration came from my love of vintage! I love old design books and magazines and the seventies and eighties. I try to find vintage designer furniture and decorate my house around those pieces. I have two small children and we spend a lot of time at home, so I try to make it a place filled with inspiration and creativity. I never want our home to be boring! I’m also a Leo so being “extra” is in my blood.
What’s your favorite space in your home and why?
Probably my living room! We have a giant, vintage curved sectional that can fit around 20 people and it’s the best spot to hang out. Whether we are hosting a bunch of people or it’s just our little family of four sprawled out, it’s the comfiest place to be!
How do you keep your décor fresh?
I LOVE switching things up! I get bored easily with the house and there’s nothing better than shopping within your own home. I love a good rug swap or moving furniture around. Or even painting a mural on the walls. It keeps things fresh and costs no money!
What’s your most recent and next upcoming home project?
We just finished a big kitchen renovation. It took us about 9 months and we did all the work ourselves. We went from a drab beige to a super fun teal and pink kitchen with lots of fun seventies and eighties touches. Next, we are planning to refresh our main guest bathroom. It definitely needs some help!
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting to decorate their home?
Do what you love and ignore the “rules”! Buy pieces that bring you joy—that’s all that matters. Your home should be your sanctuary and therefore, your opinion is the only one that counts. Also, combine old and new! I love shopping at my favorite stores, but I also love shopping secondhand. The combination of the two is so homey and adds tons of character to a space!
How did you hear about Revival?
Instagram! Some of my favorite bloggers and Instagrammers had Revival pieces and I was always in love with those spaces.
How do Revival rugs play into your home’s décor?
They are fun, eclectic, and one-of-a-kind. I love Revival’s Original Vintage line because they just go seamlessly with the rest of our décor—I can always find something in that collection!
